Pandemic & Emergency PlanningWorkshops: Emergency Preparedness
The tragic incidents of Dawson College and Virginia Tech have highlighted the vulnerability of university and college campuses and the importance of comprehensive emergency plans. Recent sexual assault cases and threats of shootings on Canadian campuses have further reinforced the need for emergency planning. Senior executives and administrators play a critical role in driving the development and testing of emergency plans and in dealing with crisis situations. Building on last year’s successful pandemic planning workshop, CAUBO is hosting a national workshop on Emergency Preparedness which targets executives and senior administrators and their emergency planning teams. At the workshop, you will draw from Mr. Richard Filion’s experience with and lessons learned from the tragic Dawson College shooting incident, Dr. Philip Klassen’s extensive experience in dealing with individuals displaying violent behaviour, and Prof. Gordon Gow’s national reputation public alert and emergency notification systems. You will consider the legal and ethical issues relative to individual rights and collective rights, share planning templates and planning documents, observe an actual table top simulation exercise developed specifically for the Workshop participants, and address operational realities of emergency response. The conference presentations will be in English. Who should attend?
Register today – last year’s pandemic planning workshop sold out early! Questions should be addressed to Amanda Brazeau at abrazeau@caubo.ca
