| Elgin Austen |
 |
Elgin Austen retired in 1997 as Deputy Chief of Operations, London Police Service. He was in charge of Criminal Investigations, Court Services, the Uniformed Division, and Human Resources at various times during his career. Following his retirement he specialized in security and violence prevention initiatives in private enterprise and is currently Director of Campus Community Police Service at The University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Ontario and International Associations of Chiefs of Police. |

| Les Brinkworth |
| |
Les Brinkworth is the Leader of Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness for the University of Alberta. During more than 25 years in the emergency services industry he has held supervisory and Leadership positions in the municipal, industrial, international airport and post secondary institution environments.
His credentials include a bachelor degree in business: specializing in emergency services, a Certified Risk Manager, a Canadian Registered Safety Professional, Associate Business Continuity Planner and National Fire Protection Association Level II Fire Fighter Professional Qualification in addition to fire officer level courses.
His work has included a broad range of subjects including: risk assessments in the petrochemical industry, establishing a total safety culture in an international airport, the development of emergency management programs and plans, the delivery of training, the conducting of emergency exercises and the author of a risk management module for a bachelor degree program.

| Ken Burt |
| |
Ken Burt was appointed to position of Vice-President Finance and Administration of Dalhousie University on January 1, 2007. He provides executive leadership to a broad range of administrative functions at Dalhousie University.
Beginning at the University of British Columbia in 1987, Ken has worked in university administration for more than twenty years assuming progressively greater responsibility with each position. Mr. Burt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, a Masters of Business Administration, and has been involved in post graduate studies in Higher Education Administration. |

| Richard Filion |
 |
Richard Filion has been Director General of Dawson College since January 2005. Previously, he was Academic Dean at Cégep Limoilou and at Cégep de la Pocatière. He began his career in the CEGEP network as a teacher of philosophy in 1981 at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Iles. As Director General of Dawson College, he presides over the largest CEGEP in the Quebec network with a student population of 7,450 full-time students and 2,000 part-time students enrolled in more than 50 fields of study. Founded in 1968, it was the first and largest English-language CEGEP when it welcomed 1,200 students in the Fall of 1969. A diversity of languages and cultures is represented among Dawson College's student body, faculty and staff, reflecting the multicultural character of Montreal itself. This diversity greatly enriches the students' CEGEP experience and the lives of the entire Dawson community. |

| Jacques Girard |
| |
Jacques Girard is head of Security Services at the Université de Sherbrooke, a university of approximately 14000 students. He is responsible for security, fire and accident prevention and access to buildings. He is also Coordinator of emergency planning. His experience in security dates back to 1982, when he joined the military police; he later was promoted to Major. He remains active in the Canadian Reserve Forces in which he holds the rank of Senior Staff Officer. |

| Gordon Gow |
 |
Gordon Gow is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Extension at the University of Alberta. Dr. Gow works closely with community stakeholders and government to examine various planning and policy issues associated with public alerting and emergency communication systems and procedures. He is currently leading a research team looking at emergency messaging at Canadian postsecondary educational institutions, and organized the National Roundtable on Campus Emergency Messaging held at the University of Alberta in November 2007.
Over the years, he has been involved in the development and testing of an all-hazards warning system in Sri Lanka, as well as conducting research for the Canadian government on tsunami warning and emergency communications. In 2005 he published his first book, Policymaking for Critical Infrastructure (Ashgate), which examined the development of Wireless E9-1-1 in North America as a case study in the management of public safety telecommunications. He has published papers in the International Journal of Emergency Management, Journal of Emergency Management, and has worked with the United Nations (ITU) to develop a handbook for public alerting in developing countries. In 2007, he published an article in the Canadian Journal of Communication reviewing the recent CRTC decisions on public alerting. |

| Debbie Jones |
| |
Debbie Jones has over 22 years experience in support of Computing in an Academic environment. For the past 7 years Debbie has been the Director of Information Technology Services at Western and the Executive Director of LARG*NET (London And Region Global computer network).
Debbie holds a Certificate in University Management from CHERD, is one of the Founding Board Members of the newly formed Canadian University Council of CIOs (CUCCIO) and through Western's Emergency Planning initiative is one of many at Western that have been certified in Basic Emergency Training and Business Continuity.

| Dr. Philip E. Klassen |

Dr. Klassen is the Deputy Clinical Director and Associate Head (Education) for the Law and Mental Health Program, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. He is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of both Psychiatry and Medicine, at the University of Toronto. His areas of particular interest include violence risk assessment, clinical sexology, assessment of post-traumatic symptomatology, and assessment of professional misconduct. |

| Dan Michaluk |
 |
Dan Michaluk represents clients in all areas of Hicks Morley's labour and employment practice and has an expertise in information, privacy and records management regulation. Dan has advised public and private sector clients on privacy compliance and records management initiatives and security breaches, has represented clients in responding to access-to-information appeals and has represented unionized employers in privacy-related grievance arbitrations. Dan received a Bachelor of Commerce in 1994 and an LL.B. in 1997. Prior to joining the Firm he was the Director of Operations for a start-up business simulation software company. |

| Phil Wood |

Dr. Wood has been a professor of chemical engineering for 30 years and has held a large number of academic administrative positions including Department Chair and Associate Dean. He is an award winning teacher receiving the 3M Teaching Award in 1993 – Canada’s top award for university professors. He has been AVP since 2002 and oversees a broad portfolio of student services at McMaster including counseling, services for students with disabilities, judicial affairs, financial aid, athletics and recreation, residence life, career services, first year experience, food services and the bookstore. |
