Human Resources management in universities and colleges are at times viewed and managed as two distinct areas, with the first having to do with academic staff and the second having to do with administrative and other staff.
In the context of CAUBO, Human Resources Management refers primarily to the development and management of all human resources policies and procedures affecting all personnel groups except academics. It includes the development and management of all benefits, pension programs, and wellness programs for all groups, including academics. Similarly, it includes the development of strategies for workforce planning, succession planning, strategies, training and development of personnel, as well as integration and alignment of personnel practices and objectives with institutional plans.
Within CAUBO, leadership on this issue has been delegated to the Human Resources Committee and to the Faculty Bargaining Service.
