Moving & Relocation Services

CAUBO has negotiated special rates for Household and Commercial Moving Services as well as special rates for a new service, Relocation Services.  These agreements provide moving and storage services, at the contracted CAUBO rates, to the CAUBO University Members (Regular) and College Members (Affiliate). 
 

News: The PC has made a decision to exercise a two (2) year option to extend the national contract for moving and storage with Armstrong Moving & Storage Ltd. and Premiere Van Lines. The current five (5) year agreements with Armstrong Moving & Storage and Premiere Van Lines were launched April 1, 2006 and the option period will result in agreements through to March 31, 2013.

What is the difference between Household and Commercial Moving Services and Relocation Services?

Household and Commercial Moving Services

Traditional moving services include but are not limited to packing, unpacking, crating, warehousing services, coordination of third party services such as automobile, plant and pet transport, appliance disconnection and reconnection and other similar services.

Relocation Services

Relocation services are complementary services often required in conjunction with a move including but not limited to home sale/lease assistance, home marketing, vacant property maintenance and management, lease cancellation, rental finding assistance, financial services, settling in services, cultural training and career connections. 

CAUBO has an exclusive agreement with Premiere Van Lines for relocation services.  Premiere Van Lines has partnered with Brookfield Group to offer CAUBO’s institutional members and their relocating families with a true “one stop” approach to relocation.

Household and Commercial Moving :

To better service you Premiere has developed an exclusive website for CAUBO institutional members that enables estimates and booking of services on-line.   This website includes information on packing options, average transit time, claim procedures, custom information and other helpful hints on household and laboratory relocation.

The negotiated rates and the primary contact for this contract is as follows:

Bonus Award – Aeroplan:  At no additional cost, Premiere Van Lines will provide CAUBO members with a special bonus in the form of free Aeroplan Miles for short haul and long distance moves.  These miles can be collected and later redeemed for air travel, hotel stays, car rentals and a range of other rewards. 

Premiere Van Lines, with assistance in conjunction with Green Standards, is able to provide an environmentally friendly way of disposing of redundant electronic and similar commercial type equipment.
 

Relocation Services (for permanent or temporary relocations) 
 

Premiere Van Lines & Brookfield Group, formally known as Royal Lepage Relocation Services have formed a partnership to provide CAUBO members and their employees with a one stop approach to relocation.  The services can be tailored for permanent and temporary relocations. 

Brookfield Group/Royal Lepage is one of Canada’s oldest and largest full-service national relocation companies.  This arm of Royal Lepage is owned and managed separately from Royal Lepage real estate agencies.

The services and rates offered to CAUBO members are outlined below in three categories:

Relocation Services

• Lease Cancellation Assistance including negotiation with the landlord and the sub-let process is $200.00
• Home Sale Assistance in which RLRS will introduce you to an award winning agent if you do not have an agent, or provide assistance to the agent of choice.  This service will have no fee, provided RLRS is able to collect a referral from the realtor acting for the employee on the sale.
• Rental/Vacant Management including qualification of tenants, negotiation of lease, collection of rent, co-ordination of service providers, oversee repairs, optional rental/vacant insurance package and overseeing property management and inspections is $250.00 per month.
• Home Finding Assistance Purchase will have no fee, provided RLRS is able to collect a referral from the realtor acting for the employee on the purchase.
• Financial Services from a Premiere mortgage broker to provide counseling on financing options and to assist in obtaining the best rate and term from an appropriate financial institution.
• Rental Finding Assistance for one day of showing is $650.00 and for a limited number of days showing is $1,200.00
• Sourcing Temporary Extended Stay Facilities has no fee provided RLRS temporary accommodation network is utilized.  If the member uses Premier Executive Suites, a discount of 12% is available to CAUBO members.
• Settling in Services consists of 4 program options depending on the level of service required.  The Home and Neighborhood Program is $500.00, Moving in Program is $750.00, Comprehensive Domestic Program is $1,500.00 and the Comprehensive Program is $1.750.00.
• Orientation Services are available as one day tours at a fee of $650.00 or two day tours for $1,200.00.
• Career Connection Services includes Job Search Pre-Management $1,200.00, Job Search Professional $1,500.00 or Job Search Executive $2,100.00.
• Educational Consulting includes the initial family interview, researching schools, coordination for school interviews and tours and school search consulting services.  Fees - $650.00 for domestic and $800.00 for International relocation to Canada.
• Intercultural Briefings are available as Tier 1 (telephone coaching program) $1,500.00 or Tier 2 (2 days of intensive training) at $3,000.00.

Temporary/Extended Stay:

As a sister corporation to Premiere Van Lines,  Premiere Executive Suites offers staff of CAUBO institutional members access to temporary or extended stay accommodations in any of their 600 furnished luxury suites located throughout Canada.  This feature would be of interest to any members who are temporarily relocating for a short or long period of time (i.e. sabbatical leave).  Savings are significant over traditional hotel stays (usually in the range of 40%) and Premiere is prepared to offer an additional 12% discount from their normal rates to CAUBO institutional members and their families.
