2026 Pat Hibbitts Bursary winner

In honour of Pat Hibbitts, a long-standing CAUBO member and contributor, and in support of her commitment to continuing education, CAUBO established a professional development bursary. Each year, CAUBO extends a complimentary conference registration (including a functional seminar) to one institutional member.

Exceptionally for CAUBO 2026, CAUBO has made the decision to award four (4) Pat Hibbitts PD Bursaries, rather than the usual one. This decision reflects several important factors, including the exceptionally high level of interest in the bursary program this year, the current financial context facing universities across Canada, and the growing importance of ensuring that members have opportunities to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another during a time of significant change.

To ensure this additional support is distributed equitably across the country, one bursary has been randomly selected from the pool of eligible applications in each of CAUBO’s four regions.

The winners are:

  • East: Ank Chopra, Director, Facilities Management, St Francis Xavier University
  • Quebec: Nathan Comtois, Analyste budgétaire principal, HEC Montréal
  • Ontario: Eric Hinse, Director of Treasury & Investment Operations, University of Guelph
  • West: Alishah Janmohamed, Director Assurance and Advisory, Mount Royal University

Congratulations!

Pat Hibbitts

In June 2015 the CAUBO Community lost one of its most active and distinguished members: Patricia Hibbitts, known to most as Pat. Her participation in the advancement of the higher education administration sector was unparalleled. A huge supporter of and believer in life-long learning and in the education sector as a whole, Pat was passionate about education from many perspectives, an avid learner, and a substantial contributor when it came to presenting and sharing her experiences and insight.

In Pat’s honor, and in support of her commitment to continuing education, CAUBO has established a professional development bursary. Annually, CAUBO will extend a complimentary conference registration (including a functional seminar) to one institutional member.

To be eligible for this bursary you must:

  • Be currently employed at a CAUBO member university in one of the following functional areas: Academic Administration, Facilities Management, Finance, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Procurement, Risk Management, Taxes, Treasury & Investment
  • Have been working for three years or less in a university environment (at time of application)
  • Not have attended a CAUBO annual conference before

Applications for the bursary may be self-submitted or submitted by a supervisor; however, all applications must have supervisor sign-off to ensure that the recipient has the approval to attend the conference.
